When I saw the word Friend, only one thing came to my mind. My dearest friend, Sara, whom I’ve known since we were babies in the church nursery together. I’m going to visit her tomorrow, so what better way to start off our weekend than writing a tribute to a friendship of 40 years and counting… (and probably embarrass her a little – ha!)
What does 40 years of friendship look like?
Growing up together in the extended church family. Sitting on Crockie’s lap in the church nursery, singing in the Joyful Noise choir and Sunday night potluck dinners…
Singing in the Joyful Noise choir at church
Celebrating milestones and holidays with Halloween birthday parties (hers) and Christmas cookie parties (mine)…
One my annual Christmas cookie decorating parties
Cultivating friendship and building memories with sleepovers and calling the bible story hotline (story here)…
Growing our faith in the 1st Pres youth group, summers at Mo-Ranch and mission trips…
Me and Sara with our youth minister, Beth
With our youth group on a mission trip to Mexico
Sitting with me after my mother died and sharing tears, then making me laugh and remember that life goes on…
Standing in each others weddings…
Sara was my matron of honor
Celebrating births of babies…
Sara holding my newborn Sophie
There for each other in good times and bad and through all of our life’s trials.
Sara and I with one of my other dearest friends, Mary
Wow – so many other wonderful, dear friends in these pictures, too! Feeling especially blessed to have these wonderful women in my life and to call them friends!
“True friendship multiplies the the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island… to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep her is a blessing.” ~Unknown
