A daily prayer for government leaders. Pray for your leaders to lead through humility and wisdom, following God’s guidance, leading the nation to peace and unity.
O God, the Father of Nations, the Ruler of Heaven and Earth, I pray today for the government leaders. I pray for the leaders of the nation to know you first, to lead through your wise council and guidance. I pray for them to lay aside selfish desire and petty grievances, instead focusing always on the best interests of the people. May they lead through humility and love, leading us to peace and unity. Lord, keep our leaders grounded in what is good and true, protecting them from the temptations and distractions of power and influence. May they know and follow you, leading through faith, ever working for the good of the people they serve.
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV)
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Philippians 2:3-4 (NIV)
