I don’t why it continues to amaze me. Why I still can’t believe when it happens. Why I don’t always trust the still, small voice guiding me. Yet, I find myself in this same place time and again. Wondering how those words made the impact they did.
How the story I didn’t think was fully formed resonated with so many. {Does Your Live Have Only One Speed?}
How the story I desperately didn’t want to tell became one of my most viewed posts. {What Losing My Temper Taught Me About Grace}
How when I just release these words to God, He can do amazing things. {Waving the White Flag of Surrender}
Have you ever had that feeling where you just need to do something, say something, write something? When you have the prompting that something is the right thing to do. Yet, you hold back. You don’t feel confident, ready, or willing.
That’s me on many days. Sometimes I’ll have a plan, a story to tell, and then I get this flood of words that just have to be written. There are days I’ll look down at what I’ve written and think “this doesn’t make sense; it’s not fully formed” or “this is not a story I want to tell today, it’s too personal, too revealing”.
What I keep finding, though, is that those are the stories that take off. The ones that resonate with the most people. Not the stories I thought up. Not the ones I spent more time developing and creating. No, its the ones God lays on my heart and compels me to write. That’s just His way, isn’t it?
The crazy part is I had other posts written and planned for those days. I did later publish a couple of them and they completely flopped. Quite a lesson in learning to release my words to Him.
What is it in your life you need to release to Him? Where do you need to release that control? Release those fears? Release those thoughts of “not good enough”?
It’s a work-in-progress for me. Releasing control is not in my nature. Sometimes it means throwing out my plans and my schemes – and that’s hard to do. Sometimes it means opening my heart even more and being vulnerable – and that’s scary. It means not being in control – and that’s unsettling.
Yet, God keeps showing me He’s got this! He’s in control, even when I’m not ready to let go. He’s patiently waiting for me to release the grip on my life and let Him lead. Then, He can show me His real power.
Will you join me today and release control to Him? Listen for those prompts and then follow them with abandon. Don’t be afraid to let go of your own plans and let Him guide you into even better ones!
